The Washington Post tracked a bunch of people down from the many events attended by Republicans in Washington recently — it’s WILD how far the radius extends. (There’s also a funny thing in there someone pointed out to me, which is multiple people said they spoke to their wives after the event and now basically regret going.)
Jerry Saltz wrote another piece about revisiting renaissance paintings during quarantine, this one on three Caravaggio paintings. I really could read an endless stream of these pieces, they’re just great.
How big should turkeys be? I’m basically endlessly fascinated by supply-chain logistics stories, and this one gets into turkey farmers trying to anticipate how Thanksgiving will be this year.
Ruth Graham reported on People of Praise, and what it actually is — very interesting piece and one that includes a great line that should go into more pieces like this, about how former members’ views are more likely to be negative.
(If you want more Amy Coney Barrett + religion takes from Catholics: Elizabeth Bruenig wrote about the places where Catholicism and liberalism are at odds; Caitlin Flanagan deemed the group “not my kind of thing—and it’s probably not your kind of thing either” in a piece that is funny without being harsh, which is always a challenge.)
Here’s Mayor Pete’s imitation of Mike Pence (he played him in debate prep), which he has the cadence down, actually.
What was this week like for a U.S. senator who’s also having to quarantine? On Wednesday, Cory Booker woke up at 5:50 a.m. and ended up walking laps in his backyard on the phone. Ruby Cramer interviews him here about the weirdness of this time.
