It’s been a very long 11 days since the election. Thus, the links.

Ok, so you’re not going to get from me a lot of concern on whether Trump’s leaving. I myself have already written a piece as though it’s in progress and happening.
Check out this tweet (which you can also listen to Maggie Haberman say in the link there) for more on that subject. Check out the exquisite details of the grift that is this recount fundraising. And if you want to listen to what dealing with the people at the White House has been like these last few years, Olivia Nuzzi gets into all that in this interview.
This reporter was at a Trump merchandise stand in rural Pennsylvania when the race was called for Joe Biden last weekend. A sort of melancholy reflection on the situation there that’s worth reading.
Was the election a repudiation of Trump? Found these polar opposite arguments compelling, from John Podhoretz who said yes; and from Jamelle Bouie, who I am more inclined to agree with, who argues the results of the 2020 election were sort of chaotic and don’t promise much of anything about the immediate future.
Check out this delightful story — an addition to the long-standing genre of New York Times “nice story alert” — about a group of black women who are super into competitive fishing.
Likewise, also by the Times, if the Pfizer vaccine works out, then we need like a whole movie about this billionaire scientist couple in Germany behind the thing. (They went back to the lab after getting married.)
Why are there so few black managers in Major League Baseball? There are very few black catchers. And why are there so few black catchers? A good piece here on the subtle/unsubtle racism a lot of young black catchers face from white coaches. (The catching-managing thing does make sense, as an aside, at least to me who played catcher. It’s like each play you have to see and make decisions tailored to the pitcher and contextual situation.)
Obviously a lot of nice stories about Kim Ng, but I liked this one where the guy who hired her twice talked Ken Rosenthal’s ear off about how great she is.
If you like the podcast Song Exploder, or are interested in modern music production, this review of the new show is solid.
